Dobies Health Marketing Recognized as Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certified Business

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Dobies Health Marketing is proud to again be recognized as a Healthy KC Workplace Wellness Certified business, receiving Gold honors for its company health and wellness efforts in 2020-21. This certification comes from the Healthy KC Workplace Wellness initiative, created in 2014 by the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce in partnership with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Kansas City.

Dobies Health Marketing has been honored since 2016 by the Healthy KC program, which recognized more than 100 businesses across Greater Kansas City this year. The program assesses the actions a company takes to support health and wellness across five Pillars of Wellness: healthy eating, active living, tobacco cessation, work-life integration, and design-built environment.

The Dobies Health Marketing staff worked remotely most of 2020 to keep everyone as healthy as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic. That made the emphasis on physical and social activity even more important. Employees joined impromptu challenges and planned efforts to set weekly walking goals; encouraged stretch and digital detox breaks; shared healthy smoothie recipes; and participated in friendly competitions for hydration and healthy eating.

These efforts align with the culture of wellness that Dobies Health Marketing traditionally fosters in the workplace – with standing meetings and work areas, nutritious snack options, exercise bikes, balance balls, a space dedicated to healthy lifestyle tips, and team outings that encourage fun physical activity.

To help make the rest of the world a little healthier, too, Dobies Health Marketing employees are dedicated to our paper reduction and recycling program. As we track and monitor the use of paper and color copies, we report and post on how many trees are saved each month or quarter. The staff also makes excellent use of recycling bins for aluminum cans and cardboard – even taking recyclables home when bins are full.

“This recognition is a testament to our team,” said Carol Dobies, Founder and CEO. “I love how our employees, in the face of a global pandemic, hunkered down in their newly formed home offices and found personally gratifying ways to continually live and share the company’s mission of inspiring health and driving better health decisions. We truly appreciate the honor and congratulate all the KC Healthy companies for making employee health and wellness a high priority.”

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Dobies Health Marketing announced today it received certification as a Women’s Business Enterprise (WBE) by the Women’s Business Enterprise National Council (WBENC), the nation’s largest third-party certifier of businesses owned and operated by women.

To promote innovation through diversity and fuel economic growth, WBENC identifies, certifies and facilitates the development of women-owned businesses. Achieving WBENC certification enables Dobies Health Marketing to expand its reach to corporations and government agencies that seek business relationships with WBEs to fulfill their commitments to supplier diversity.

“As a woman-owned business for almost 30 years, we fully support the WBENC mission. Together with Julie Amor, president and chief strategy officer, we are committed to advocating for companies led by women, while also seeking opportunities whenever possible to recruit and mentor women leaders,” said Carol Dobies, the company’s founder and chief executive officer. “We also welcome the opportunity to create new partnerships made possible through our certification.”

WBENC’s certification follows a meticulous process that includes an in-depth review of the financial and operational policies of the business and concludes with a site inspection. The certification process is designed to confirm the business is at least 51 percent owned, operated and controlled by a woman or women.
